The Visa Unit Team Leader is one of three LE staff Team Leaders in the Visa Unit which consists of both immigrant (IV) and nonimmigrant (NIV) services. The incumbent supervises four Visa Assistants (FSN-7) and oversees all associated supervisory responsibilities. S/he is rated by the Senior LE Supervisor and serves as Acting Visa Unit Senior LE Supervisor in their absence. Advises the Senior LE Supervisor and USDH Visas Chief on team performance and issues related to portfolio. Manages all aspects of day-to-day visa operations, including workflow, personnel assignments, material resources, and problem solving related to a full range of visa services, including but not limited to, intake and document screening, data entry, visa printing, passport manifesting, correspondence, relationship building, and outreach. Ensures that proper management controls are maintained in the Visa Unit. Communicates and explains 9 FAM (Foreign Affairs Manual), Immigration and Nationality Act, Consular Section Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and directives associated with NIV and IV services, in accordance with the Visa Unit’s SOPs and established visa processing guidelines. The job holder is fully cross trained to function in any role as required by visa demand and scheduling. The position requires a high-level of knowledge about different categories of visa applications and the ability to train, manage and lead subordinates.


Qualifications and Evaluations Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum three years’ experience involving visa work or other related work experience, with increasing responsibility and proven ability to apply regulations and law, execute detailed and reasoned assessments in a high pressure, multicultural environment, with extensive public contact, customer service, and/or problem-solving experience, is required. (Please note that one credited year of working experience is equal to 40 hours/week x 52 weeks or 2080 hours.)


JOB KNOWLEDGE: Good understanding of local governmental organizations, immigration law and practices, and cultural and social practices.

Education Requirements:

EDUCATION: Completion of three years of college or university studies is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Fluent Speaking/Reading/Writing in Bahasa Indonesia and Good Working Knowledge in English language are required. (This may be tested)


SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to perform work with accuracy at a quick, rapid pace. Must be able to deal effectively with the public, exercising tact, and be able to work under continuous pressure and time constraints. Must demonstrate attention to detail, ability to work effectively as a member of a team as well as independently with minimal supervision, and strong interpersonal skills. Must have good skills for drafting written correspondence in both English and local language. Must be able to apply good judgment in evaluating evidence, protecting sensitive information, and applying regulations correctly.
