Summary:The work schedule for this position is:
- Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
10% - Travels to area outside of Jakarta to meet contacts.
Duties
Working under the supervision of the Labor and Trafficking in Persons officer, the Political Assistant to the Internal Unit serves as the Missions expert on labor issues, refugee issues, and trafficking in persons in Indonesia. In addition to providing in-depth analysis and reporting on developments within the portfolio through cables and other written material, the incumbent will have lead responsibility for drafting the Trafficking in Persons Report, the Child Labor Report, and other Congressionally - mandated reports as needed, The position requires Secret level security clearance.
Qualifications and Evaluations Requirements:
OPTION 1
EXPERIENCE: At least 3 (three) years of work experience in a human rights, education, political, or security-related field or in a position contributing to the health of democratic institutions is required. Examples of relevant work experience would include work with an NGO focused on human rights and democracy, experience as a journalist, or experience in a government or international organization dealing with politics, security, human rights. human trafficking, or democratization issues is required. (Please note that one credited year of working experience is equal to 40 hours/week x 52 weeks or 2080 hours.)
EDUCATION: Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in science or arts, with a focus on Political Science, Law, Public Administration, International Relations, Journalism, or Security Studies is required. (Please note that you need to submit US education equivalency certification/transcript if you studied in a foreign college/university.)

OPTION 2

EDUCATION: At least a 2 years of full-time study at college or university in any field is required. (Please note that you need to submit US education equivalency certification/transcript if you studied in a foreign college/university.)

Evaluations:LANGUAGE: Fluent speaking/reading/writing English is required. This may be tested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Requires very strong writing and analytic skills, strong oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, ability to manage and give guidance to junior staff, interviewing and data collection skills, and word processing skills. Must be able to provide written analysis on a range of complex topics quickly and with minimal oversight or supervision.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Indonesia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
