BSJ’s curriculum is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and the International Baccalaureate (IB). Our Kindergarten curriculum follows the UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and Years 1-6 are based on the English National Curriculum (ENC) for Maths and English as well as an inquiry-based exploratory framework which covers our foundation subjects. In Years 7-11, we offer the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP), while Years 12 and 13 have access to the International Baccalaureate Diploma and Career-Related Programmes (IB DP/CP). We integrate wellbeing into our curriculum which promotes academic and personal growth while equipping both students and educators for individual development within a positive learning environment.

We also offer more than 260 extracurricular activities, with students participating in local and regional events.

School Counsellor

Job Description:

  • Provide therapeutic one-to-one counselling services to students (ages 2-18) and their families across the school
  • Demonstrate responsiveness, adaptability, and excellent interpersonal skills in addressing students social-emotional needs
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and training in the counselling field
  • Plan and implement appropriate interventions, keeping detailed case records for students
  • Make referrals to external professionals when necessary and liaise with the Child Protection Team
  • Collaborate within the school framework, connecting with staff members such as nursing staff, librarian, wellbeing tutors, class teachers, and subject teachers
  • Attend relevant professional development courses
  • Facilitate and present Parenting Workshops
  • Offer timely assemblies and relevant workshops within the school community.
  • Knowledge of the region is desirable but not essential.


The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • A track record of exceptional teaching experience
  • Having work experience of at least 5 years in accordance with the qualifications of the position to be applied

In the 2023-2024 academic year, British School Jakarta (BSJ) marks its 50th anniversary, a testament to its esteemed status over five decades. Founded in 1973 with British Embassy support, it evolved from The British School to The British International School (BIS) and established as a Foundation (Yayasan) in 1976. In 1990, it relocated to a 45-acre Bintaro site, officially opened by Prince Edward in March 1994.
