Job Responsibilities

Food Preparation:

Prepare and portion ingredients such as house-made meats, vegetables, sauces, and breads

Wash, cut, slice, chop, and grate ingredients for sandwiches, ensuring consistency and quality

Assist in preparing specialty items like sauces

Ensure proper presentation of sandwiches, focusing on both taste and visual

Cooking and Assembly:

Cook or grill ingredients for hot sandwiches, operate kitchen equipment like flat grills, ovens, or deep fryers, and maintain cleanliness of these stations

Assemble sandwiches efficiently, adhering to menu specifications

Handle custom orders and ensure timely preparation

Kitchen Operations:

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace, adhering to food safety and hygiene

Monitor ingredient levels, rotate stock, and inform the chef when supplies need reordering

Assist in daily stock counts and minimize food waste

Support other kitchen areas (e.g., breakfast or lunch prep) as needed

Customer Service:

Interact with customers to explain menu items, answer questions, and ensure a pleasant dining experience, especially in a vibrant setting like Deli Canggu

Provide recommendations based on customer preferences and dietary needs (e.g., vegan or gluten-free options)

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other kitchen staff, including Chef de Partie or Sous Chef, to ensure smooth operations

Assist in training junior staff or new hires on preparation techniques and standards

Menu Development:

Contribute ideas for new sandwich recipes or menu items, leveraging creativity and knowledge of local and international flavors.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience: 1-2 years of kitchen experience, preferably in a deli, café, or sandwich shop. Experience with sandwich preparation or artisanal cuisine is a plus

Culinary Skills: Proficiency in food handling, knife skills, and basic cooking techniques (e.g., grilling, frying). Knowledge of sandwich assembly and presentation

Food Safety: Understanding of hygiene and sanitation standards in a kitchen environment

Customer Focus: Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanor to engage with customers in a high-energy setting like Deli Canggu

Teamwork: Ability to work efficiently in a team and adapt to a fast-paced environment

Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and handle kitchen equipment safely

Flexibility: Willingness to work early mornings (Deli Canggu opens at 6 AM), weekends, and
