Government Liaison Officer
About the role
We are seeking a seasoned Liaisoning Officer based in Jakarta, Indonesia, with a strong track record in facilitating greenfield mining projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in coordinating and executing the application process for mining leases in fresh areas, working closely with regulatory authorities, landowners, and other key stakeholders. Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English is essential.
What youll be doing
Lead and manage end-to-end liaison activities related to new mining lease applications in Indonesia.
Coordinate with local, provincial, and central government agencies such as ESDM (Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources), BKPM, BPN, and regional mining departments.
Ensure compliance with applicable mining laws, environmental regulations, and licensing frameworks.
Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, landowners, village heads, and tribal groups to support land acquisition and project execution.
Track regulatory changes and provide timely insights and reports to the project team and management.
Support technical teams in conducting feasibility studies, environmental assessments, and social impact evaluations.
Facilitate clearances for exploration permits (IUP Eksplorasi) and production operation permits (IUP Operasi Produksi).
Assist in preparing and submitting permit documents, license applications, and approvals in coordination with legal and technical teams.
What were looking for
Bachelors degree in Law, Mining Engineering, Public Administration, or related field.
Minimum 7 years of experience in liaisoning for mining companies, particularly for greenfield projects.
Proven success in acquiring mining licenses in new (unexplored) areas.
Strong understanding of Indonesian mining laws, IUP regulations, forestry permits, and land acquisition procedures.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multi-stakeholder environments.
Proficient in Bahasa Indonesia and English (written and spoken).
Willing to travel to remote site locations as required.
Experience in coal or industrial minerals (e.g., ilmenite, garnet, bauxite, or nickel).
Existing network within Indonesian mining regulatory bodies.
Prior involvement in obtaining permits for environmental (AMDAL) and forestry (IPPKH) approvals.
