Research & Development / Engineering Supervisor

About the role

We are a Japanese manufacturing is seeking an experienced Research & Development/Engineering Supervisor to join our team. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for overseeing the research, development and engineering activities for our operations in Depok, West Java.

What youll be doing

• Manage and coordinate the work of the research, development and engineering teams to ensure project timelines and deliverables are met

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, guiding them in their work and supporting their professional development

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our engineering operations

• Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable engineering projects

• Monitor and report on key performance indicators to track the progress and success of engineering initiatives

• Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies and best practices in mechanical engineering

• Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant standards, regulations and safety protocols

What were looking for

• Degree (Diploma/Bachelor) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

• Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory role within a research, development or engineering function, preferably in design or testing management in diesel engine/construction machinery/agriculture machinery/automotive and similar field

• Having technical product knowledge include CAD operation

• Strong technical expertise and hands-on experience in mechanical engineering principles and practices

• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams

• Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement

• Having knowledge of diesel engines (work experience is advantageous)

• Proficient in MS office applications, IT tools and 3D-CAD system (especially CREO, EPI)

• Proficient in 3D-CAD (especially FEM) and knowledge of measurement of engine testing would be advantageous

• Fluent in English, Japanese is an advantage
