The German Development Agency GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal enterprise supporting the German government in promoting international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work. GIZs main commissioning party is the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) along with a number of other German Government agencies and international clients include the European Union, bilateral and private sector donors, and multilateral funding institutions.
In the context of the bilateral cooperation between the Government of Germany and the Government of Indonesia, GIZ has received a new commission from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and multilateral funding from Green Climate Fund (GCF) for implementing the project “Land-based Mitigation and Adaptation Through Jurisdictional Approach in West Kalimantan”.
After receiving approval within GCF board meeting for the cross-cutting project, GIZ is now preparing for implementing the project cooperation with respective ministry and province authority. The envisioned cross-cutting project will support the implementation of the Indonesian social forestry initiative and the REDD+ strategy to contribute to the achievement of the FoLU Net Sink target by targeting the main drivers and underlying causes of deforestation and forest degradation. The Project improves forest and land-based governance, strengthens forest management units, implements and upscales social forestry models and community territories, and promotes sustainable agricultural business practices in existing smallholders through collaborations.
The project objectives are to achieve a paradigm shift through a landscape approach to forest and land management to foster low emission and climate resilient sustainable development pathway balancing protection and production. The project will focus on the following three components: (1) Strengthening the institutional regulatory framework for climate informed landscape planning, (2) Scaling up of climate-resilient and low-emission agricultural and agro-forestry practices, (3) Implementing community-based forest and landscape management. Implementation of the project at West Kalimantan Province to be decentralised in 5 (five) regencies; Kapuas Hulu, Sintang, Ketapang, Sanggau and Kubu Raya.
GIZ is recruiting an Indonesian qualified candidate for the position of: Stakeholders Engagement and Strategic Planning Advisor (Job title in SAP: Forestry and Biodiversity Advisor)
Core Tasks
In your role you are responsible for the technical, substantive and organizational implementation of a projects measures and activities. In consultation with your line manager, you also assume tasks related to planning, steering and monitoring the project, including project administration tasks in some cases. You are also responsible for providing specialist support to colleagues I bands 2 and 3, and ensure the quality of the commissions outcomes.
In addition you contribute to the conceptual design of the project, in particular its modifications or realignment.
You make technical and substantive contributions to overarching issues in cooperation with commissioning parties/clients, partners and other actors and thereby support the achievement of the agreed objectives of the respective of the project and provide impetus for further strategy development.
In coordination with the country director and your line manager, you also use your contacts for the acquisition of the contracts on behalf of the company.
In consultation with your team colleagues and line managers, you also coordinate all issues within your area of work and ensure that they are dealt with promptly and competently. You resolve problems that arise in your area of responsibility on the basis of existing rules and draw attention to more complex challenges in your team.
You are involved in ongoing process development within your remit, are responsible for knowledge management and prepare and share documentation. If required, you also support other experts in familiarizing themselves with and performing their tasks.
You perform the tasks assigned to you by your line manager, where required.
Main Activities
- Provide technical support and oversees play strategic initiatives on aligning the supply chain with green policies and sustainability objectives through actively communication in collaboration with Executing Entity (eg. solidaridad) in implementing of best practices on land-based management (crops and agroforestry commodities)
- Provides advice on green commodities development, sharing on best practices in supporting sustainable rural livelihood.
- Develops and maintains strategic networking with stakeholders (government, private sector, academia, CSOs international organizations, communities) in implementing of green commodities development
- Support the identification and assessment of green investment opportunities, advise on partnership models (PPP, blended finance, co-investment) that maximize sustainability project outcomes.
- Advise on structuring deals to attract finance, impact investors and development through provides expert guidance to ensure program quality and compliance with output indicators, manages risks, and implements corrective measures.
- Supports knowledge management by creating and disseminating knowledge products (reports, guidelines, etc.) and documenting project activities through various media, contribute to natures resilient cluster levels.
- Implements cross-component area activities at the sub-national level to achieve projects objectives and Ensures project implementation aligns with strategic plans, and the implementation of GIZ corporate strategy.
- Monitor partner activities and supervise consultants, grantees, and interns then contributes to project reporting, monitoring, and evaluation. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Masters degree or doctorate in an area that is related to forestry, environment, or other subjects related field.
- 5 years relevant experience in working with government and or other organizations. Preferable experiences with government
- Experiences in policy development, advocacy and strategy implementation
- Better understood on partners system and standard especially to the governments
- Proven track record of successful engagement
- Strong managerial, communication skills, ability to work independently with limited resources
- Fluent written and oral knowledge of English preferably with a working knowledge of Government to Government Coperation
- Preparedness for frequent travel to project sites in project intervention areas in West Kalimantan
