Legal Counsel

About the role:

A Legal Counsel plays a crucial role in ensuring legal compliance and mitigating risks associated with various business activities. Responsibilities include drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, and legal documents, as well as providing guidance on intellectual property issues, employment law, and regulatory compliance.

What youll do (Responsibilities):

  • Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents to ensure they align with the companys interests and comply with relevant laws.

  • Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations affecting the industry and the company. Conduct legal research to provide accurate and timely information to support decision-making.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, industry standards, and internal policies. Develop and implement compliance programs as needed.

  • Advise on employment-related matters, including drafting employment contracts, addressing workplace issues, and staying abreast of labor laws.

  • Collaborate with external legal counsel in the event of legal disputes, and provide support in litigation matters when necessary.

  • Participate in due diligence processes for mergers, acquisitions, or fundraising activities, assessing legal risks and liabilities.

  • Effectively communicate legal advice and risks to various stakeholders, including executives, department heads, and employees, in a clear and understandable manner.

What capabilities youll need (Requirements):

  • A bachelors degree in a relevant field, such as law, legal studies, business, or a related discipline.

  • 1-3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a corporate or startup environment.

  • Strong understanding of corporate and business law, intellectual property, employment law, and contract law.

  • Familiarity with startup dynamics, including an understanding of the challenges and legal considerations specific to startup environments.

  • Excellent research and analytical skills.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Negotiation skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Familiarity with Payment Service Provider (Penyedia Jasa Pembayaran) regulatory compliance and the ability to stay updated on changes in relevant laws.

  • Having experience working in a fintech company supervised by BI.

Bonus points if you have the following skills:

  • Experience in drafting and reviewing data protection and privacy policies for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience in legal and compliance in the lending service is an advantage.
