Piping Engineer

Summary :

We are seeking an experienced Piping Engineer to join our team for a wastewater treatment plant construction project in Jakarta. The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive piping system design, engineering, and implementation, including 3D modeling coordination, pipe support design, material management, and vendor coordination.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position has, but not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:

1.      Design & Engineering

  • Develop P&IDs, piping layouts, and isometric drawings

  • Review 3D model outputs using Navisworks for clash detection and design optimization

  • Perform hydraulic calculations, pipe pressure loss calculation and pipe stress analysis

  • Create material specifications and technical documentation

  • Design piping systems in compliance with international standards

  • Design and optimize piping support systems, including standard and special support details

  • Perform pipe support load calculations and ensure optimal placement

  • Review and approve pipe support drawings

  • Verify pipe support materials and specifications

  • Review and approve vendor drawings and technical submissions

  • Coordinate with offshore 3D modeling team (India) for design development

  • Verify and validate drawings generated from the 3D model

2.      Vendor Management

  • Review vendor technical proposals and provide technical evaluations for piping, pipe fittings and piping accessories.

  • Participate in technical bid clarification meetings with vendors

  • Review vendor documentation including data sheets, drawings, and quality plans

  • Provide technical support during manufacturing and inspection stages

  • Evaluate technical capabilities of potential vendors

  • Participate in vendor qualification process

  • Monitor vendor performance and compliance

  • Attend factory acceptance tests as required

3.      Technical Communication & Client Interface

  • Respond to and resolve technical queries from client

  • Prepare technical clarification responses for client review comments

  • Document technical decisions and maintain communication records

  • Participate in client technical meetings and design reviews

  • Prepare technical deviation requests when required

  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure proper installation

  • Monitor construction progress and quality control

4.      Interdisciplinary Coordination

  • Lead technical coordination meetings with Civil, Process, Equipment, and Electrical engineers

  • Interface with offshore 3D modeling team for design integration

  • Coordinate pipe support requirements with structural team

  • Review support locations for interference with other disciplines

  • Ensure proper load transfer to civil/structural elements

  • Identify and resolve interdisciplinary conflicts through 3D model coordination

5.      Material Management & Procurement

  • Review and validate Bills of Material (BOM) generated from 3D model

  • Calculate and apply appropriate allowances for final procurement quantities

  • Manage comprehensive BOM for pipes, pipe fittings, piping accessories, and pipe supports

  • Prepare material take-offs (MTOs) and technical bid evaluations

  • Develop technical specifications for procurement of piping materials, valves, and accessories

  • Track material requirements and availability throughout project lifecycle

  • Coordinate material specifications with procurement team

6.      Quantity Management

  • Develop and maintain quantity tracking system for piping materials and supports

  • Verify support quantities from 3D model outputs

  • Review and validate pipe support BOMs

  • Monitor material usage and update quantity forecasts

  • Coordinate with construction team for actual quantity reconciliation

7.      Report and Documentation

  • Provide regular status reports to Lead Piping & 3D Model Engineer on design progress, issues, and solutions

  • Develop and maintain project schedules for piping deliverables

  • Identify potential risks and propose mitigation strategies

  • Report critical technical issues promptly with proposed solutions

  • Track and report KPIs related to piping engineering activities

  • Document and communicate lessons learned

  • Maintain clear communication channels with all stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Fluent business level of verbal and written communication skills in English

  2. Ability to effectively interact with others and work independently

  3. Familiarity with Microsoft office software

  4. Strong personality, positive attitude and ability to work efficiently under pressure and tight deadlines

  5. Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field

  6. Minimum 10 years of experience in piping design for industrial plants

  7. Strong knowledge of international piping codes and standards

  8. Expertise in Navisworks for model review and clash detection

  9. Experience in pipe support design and optimization

  10. Knowledge of pipe support standards

  11. Knowledge of Indonesian standards and regulations

  12. Experience in coordination with Civil, Process, Equipment, and Electrical engineers

  13. Strong understanding of material quantity takeoff and BOM management

  14. Experience in vendor technical evaluation and management

  15. Strong background in material specification and procurement

  16. Willing to working with 6 working days (Monday-Saturday)
