Research Associate for Health and Social Welfare (Healthcare Unit)

Under the instructions and supervision of the Executive Office members in the Healthcare Unit, the successful candidate will perform a wide range of research activities in the healthcare and social welfare disciplines. The main duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Research Activities

  • Assisting Executive Office members at any stage of research, including conducting literature reviews, interviews, developing concept notes and research proposals, and writing manuscripts.

  • Supporting data collection, cleaning, analysis, and management.

  • Monitoring project progress and resolving any issues that arise.

  • Monitoring research budgets.

  • Drafting and editing policy briefs and other reports, such as event articles for the ERIA website, and editing reports submitted by each counterpart.

  • Drafting official letters to relevant counterparts.

  • Drafting and editing research cooperation agreements, memoranda of understanding, and other official agreements.

  • Coordinating project management schedules, resources, and information.

  • Participating in decision-making processes for ongoing and prospective research projects.

  • Striving to understand the teams mission and workflow to effectively communicate with external stakeholders in healthcare and social welfare disciplines.

  • Supporting event organisation domestically and internationally, including contracting service providers, arranging meetings/conferences (online and physical), sending invitations, etc., whether online, hybrid, or in-person.

  • Liaising with potential partners (“Counterparts”) to identify their needs and objectives to develop research projects, acting as the point of contact.

  • Actively participating in partnership and outreach activities, approaching potential collaborators, attending related meetings, taking notes, and following up where necessary.

  • Performing other research activities contributing to the overall objectives of the Healthcare Unit as required.

Requirements

  • Interest in and experience with healthcare-related research are essential.

  • Well-developed interpersonal and teamwork skills, initiative, persistence, and a positive attitude.

  • Ability to coordinate and cooperate effectively with other ERIA staff members.

  • Capacity for honest self-reflection and accountability regarding ones performance.

  • Ability to accept guidance from senior team members but also work independently when necessary.

  • Exceptional writing skills and the ability to compose engaging and accurate content in English are required.

  • Experience in logistical support for organising online, hybrid, and in-person events, meetings, and seminars is highly desirable.

  • Ability to manage tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple tasks, pay attention to detail, and demonstrate a high degree of proactivity and initiative.

  • Understanding of a hands-on, results-oriented approach.

  • Strong logical and strategic thinking skills and the ability to identify ways to develop research projects in light of Counterparts opinions are highly desirable.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Essential:

  • A Masters degree (preferably in public health, global health, health sciences, social sciences, health economics, or related fields).

  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken) and Bahasa Indonesia, including highly developed document-drafting skills.

  • Strong academic record.

  • A minimum of 7 years of professional and research experience in relevant sectors.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of and research experience in Asia, preferably resulting in academic publications.

  • Experience working with multisectoral stakeholders.

  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in international settings.

  • Experience as a civil servant and/or working in an international organisation is an advantage.

Working Conditions

  • Salary and benefits: Competitive salary depending on the candidates academic achievements and professional experience. Healthcare coverage is included.

  • Term: Fixed term of 1 year, with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of 5 years in total, subject to performance and budget continuation.

  • Location: ERIA Annex Office, Sentral Senayan II, 6th Floor, Jl. Asia Afrika No. 8, Gelora Bung Karno - Senayan, Jakarta Pusat 10270, Indonesia.
