General Manager

Location: Alchemy Vegan Restaurant, Uluwatu, Bali

Job Summary

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of Alchemy Vegan Restaurant in Uluwatu, ensuring it operates efficiently, profitably, and in alignment with our brand values. This role requires strong leadership, business acumen, and a passion for plant-based dining. The GM will manage the restaurants financial performance, staff, customer experience, and daily operations while implementing strategic growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations & Customer Experience

  • Oversee all aspects of daily restaurant operations, including front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH).
  • Ensure smooth service flow, from reservations to table management and kitchen operations.
  • Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and customer service.
  • Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements to enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain operational systems to improve efficiency and minimize waste.

2. Financial Management

  • Develop and oversee the restaurants annual budget, including revenue targets, cost control, and profit margins.
  • Monitor financial performance through regular reporting (P&L, labor costs, COGS, etc.).
  • Optimize menu pricing and cost structures to maximize profitability while maintaining quality.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue through events, promotions, or strategic partnerships.

3. Team Leadership & HR Management

  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team that aligns with Alchemys values.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and motivation to ensure a positive work environment.
  • Manage staff scheduling, payroll, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Ensure compliance with Indonesian labor laws and workplace regulations.

4. Marketing & Brand Development

  • Work closely with the marketing team to drive customer engagement and brand awareness.
  • Develop strategies for social media, influencer partnerships, and community events.
  • Ensure consistency in brand messaging, interior aesthetics, and customer touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with chefs and the creative team to introduce seasonal menu changes and innovative concepts.

5. Compliance & Sustainability

  • Ensure compliance with all local health, safety, and licensing regulations.
  • Maintain sustainability initiatives, including waste management and ethical sourcing.
  • Oversee supplier relationships and inventory management to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in restaurant management, preferably in plant-based or high-end casual dining.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep understanding of restaurant financials, including budgeting, P&L, and cost controls.
  • Passion for plant-based cuisine, sustainability, and conscious business practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to improve operational efficiency and drive profitability.
  • Experience with digital POS systems, inventory management, and reservation platforms.
  • Understanding of Indonesian labor laws and hospitality regulations (preferred but not required).
