Data Center Engineering Manager (Mechanical)

As an Engineering Manager (mechanical) you will lead the companys data centers mechanical systems. Youll oversee the design, construction, and maintenance of critical infrastructure, including HVAC, cooling, and fire protection. Your leadership will ensure the companys data centers operate with maximum uptime, efficiency, and reliability.

Description

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and technicians responsible for all aspects of data center mechanical systems (HVAC, chilled water, cooling towers, plumbing, fire suppression).
• Develop and implement innovative mechanical engineering strategies to guarantee reliable, energy-efficient, and scalable data center operations.
• Oversee the entire lifecycle of mechanical systems, from design and installation to commissioning and ongoing maintenance for both new and existing facilities.
• Collaborate closely with electrical engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
• Establish and manage robust preventive maintenance programs designed to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation effectively for all mechanical engineering initiatives.
• Evaluate and recommend cutting-edge technologies and equipment to enhance system performance and sustainability.
• Provide expert technical guidance, training, and professional development opportunities for your engineering team.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, documentation, and presentations for senior management and key stakeholders.

Profile

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. A Masters degree is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity. Experience in data center or other critical facility environments is essential.
• Deep understanding of HVAC systems, advanced cooling infrastructure, fire protection methodologies, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Demonstrated success in managing mechanical engineering projects from initial concept through successful commissioning.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and complex problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on experience with large-scale, mission-critical facilities.
• Proven project management capabilities and a solid understanding of construction processes.
