Senior Metallurgist

As Senior Metallurgist, you will be in charge in leads and oversees metallurgical processes, research, and quality control in the development and production of metals and alloys. This role involves applying advanced knowledge of physical and chemical properties of metals to improve manufacturing efficiency, product performance, and material reliability. The Senior Metallurgist collaborates with engineering, production, and R&D teams to solve complex technical challenges and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead metallurgical investigations and failure analyses.

  • Develop and optimize metal processing techniques (e.g., heat treatment, casting, forging).

  • Evaluate material properties and performance through laboratory testing.

  • Provide technical guidance on material selection and specifications.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development and innovation.

  • Mentor junior metallurgists and support their technical growth.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in metallurgical engineering, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field. (Masters degree preferred or considered an asset)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in metallurgical roles within a large-scale mineral processing operation.

  • Proven experience in managing a metallurgical laboratory, including QA/QC protocols and analytical techniques.

  • Strong background in metallurgical accounting and mass balance reconciliation is essential.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading long-term technical projects from concept to completion.

  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and cross-functional teams.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • A strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

  • Proficiency with metallurgical simulation software and data analysis tools.
