Accountant

Summary of functions

Organizes all general accounting activities for AGA (Australia) as directed by the Finance Manager. Prepares accounting and financial reports and ensures accurate accounting systems and record keeping.

The principle objectives of the Accountant are to maintain and direct the accounting and control functions, reporting the results of operations and provide analysis of financial data, and chronological systems.

Additionally the Accountant develops and updates personnel policies, procedures and forms, and supports department managers and employees regarding personnel issues.

The Accountant is responsible for the management and administration of all Head Office functions.

As Company Secretary and with executive authority is responsible for approval for all AGA agreements concerning financial obligations, such as contracts for equipment or services and other actions requiring a commitment of financial resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The fulfilment of these objectives will involve the accountant in the following areas:

  • Maintains the general ledger and all related accounts with proper documentation and records of all company transactions.
  • Responsible for monthly and year end closing of the general ledger including preparation of journal entries.
  • Responsible for accurately maintaining and preparing the AGA Monthly Financial Report and reviewing with Finance Manager.
  • Reviews entries to the general and subsidiary ledgers to assure accuracy and compliance with the companys and established accounting principles.
  • Prepares required government reports as directed by the Finance Manager and responds to inquiries as necessary.
  • Stays current with developments, practice trends and promulgations in the accounting profession.
  • Prepares daily bank reconciliation for all accounts; verifies accuracy of bank statements and resolve questions or problems; maintains integrity of cash balances and cash flow systems.
  • Responsible for preparation, and payment of VAT, Payroll Tax and Fringe Benefit Tax, after review by the Finance Manager.
  • Responsible for monthly and year end closing Finance Manager
  • Maintains fixed asset records and control.
  • Assists the Accountant in coordination of year end audit and preparation of schedules and documents for independent auditors.
  • Maintain other accounts and performs other accounting duties as required or as requested by the Finance Manager.
  • Assists Accountant with preparation of half-yearly and yearly Group Reporting Packages
  • Assists Accountant with preparation, distribution and compilation of annual budget and standard plan packages as appropriate.
  • Understanding of IFRS16 lease processes
  • Maintenance, Updating and review of selected managing reporting spreadsheets as directed and delegated by Finance Manager
  • Drafts financial and other reports as appropriate.
  • Stays current with developments in payroll, payroll tax, GST/VAT and WHT.
Organizational Relationships

Reports directly to the Finance Manager.

Educational or Skill Requirements

Good communications skills and the ability to work well with people is essential. Good leadership skills and influencing skills are beneficial. Familiarity with accounting and spreadsheet applications is also required.

Fluent in English both written and speaking is a must and be able to work remotely from Indonesias office for overseas Alfagomma Branch (Australia)
