Mainframe Cardlink Developer (Cobol)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL and related tools

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in Cardlink systems, including transaction flows and integration points

  • Collaborate with business analysts and system users to gather and understand business requirements

  • Ensure seamless batch and online processing for card-based transaction systems

  • Write efficient, well-documented, and testable code

  • Perform unit testing, system integration testing, and support UAT (User Acceptance Testing)

  • Support production deployments and post-implementation issue resolution

  • Ensure high system availability, performance, and reliability

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including functional and technical design specifications

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure, database, and application support teams

  • Stay updated on mainframe technologies and banking/payment trends related to card systems

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in COBOL programming (COBOL batch and online processing)

  • Experience with JCL, VSAM, CICS, and DB2 in a z/OS mainframe environment

  • Strong knowledge of Cardlink application systems (especially in banking/payment processing context)

  • Familiarity with card-based transaction processing (ATM, debit/credit card systems, host authorization, switching)

  • Understanding of file handling, batch jobs, and real-time processing in mainframe systems

  • Ability to analyze complex programs and debug performance or logic issues

  • Experience with version control and job scheduling tools on mainframe systems (e.g., Endevor, Control-M)

General Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working as a Mainframe Developer, with a focus on Cardlink systems

  • Prior involvement in Cardlink system support or enhancement projects is highly preferred

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Familiarity with Agile or Waterfall development methodologies is a plus
