SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER – LUXURY RESIDENTIAL DESIGN

About the Role
Henderson Design Group is seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to help lead the development of luxury residential projects across Hawaii and international markets.
This role is responsible for managing complex design projects, guiding design direction, mentoring team members, and maintaining the quality standards that define the Henderson Design Group client experience.
The Senior Interior Designer will work closely with the Design Lead, Project Managers, Procurement Team, Design Administration Team, and Graphic Presentation Designers to deliver thoughtful, beautiful, and highly functional residences.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership
• Lead design development for assigned luxury residential projects
• Develop complete furnishing, material, finish, and styling concepts
• Present design concepts internally and participate in design reviews
• Maintain consistency with Henderson Design Group design standards
• Provide design guidance and support to junior designers
Project Ownership
• Manage multiple active client projects simultaneously
• Coordinate closely with Project Managers throughout project execution
• Ensure project deadlines and design milestones are achieved
• Resolve design challenges and provide creative solutions
Furniture & FF&E Design
• Furniture selections and specifications
• Material and finish selections
• Custom furniture development when required
• Lighting selections
• Art and accessory selections
• Bedding and soft goods coordination
Documentation & Presentation
• Organize complete design information and specifications
• Review design documentation for accuracy and completeness
• Support the development of client-facing presentation materials
• Ensure all selections are properly documented for procurement and execution
Team Collaboration
• Work closely with Design Admin and Procurement teams
• Participate in internal design reviews
• Mentor and support Interior Designers within the team
• Help elevate overall design quality across projects
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of professional Interior Design experience
• Strong portfolio demonstrating residential interior design projects
• Experience leading projects independently
• Strong FF&E, furniture, material, and finish selection experience
• Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent design software
• Strong presentation and visual communication skills
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities
Preferred Qualifications
• Luxury residential design experience
• Experience working with international clients
• Experience mentoring or leading junior designers
• Experience developing complete furnishing packages
• Adobe InDesign proficiency
