Engineering Tech Lead

Responsibilities:

1. Engineering Leadership:

• Lead the technical direction of key lending and platform initiatives, collaborating with backend, frontend, data, infrastructure, and SRE teams.

• Drive high-impact design and implementation decisions that balance performance, maintainability, security, and scale. o

• Provide hands-on support in architecture design, code reviews, and engineering problem-solving.

  2. System Architecture & Engineering Excellence:

• Partner with product, business, risk, and compliance teams to translate business goals into technical solutions.

• Ensure timely delivery of features and system improvements, balancing tech debt and innovation.

• Support integration efforts with third-party vendors and external systems.

  3. Collaboration & Delivery:

• Collaborate with senior leadership to define the operational strategy and align technical functions with business goals.

• Identify and prioritize technical initiatives that enhance the organizations core systems and compliance.

  4. Vendor & Third-Party Integration:

• Guide and supervise integration efforts with external platforms, vendors, and partners.

• Conduct technical assessments and ensure compliance with architectural and security standards.

• Drive the quality, reliability, and scalability of systems and components provided by third-party vendors to ensure they meet IAFs engineering and operational standards.

  5. Engineering Culture:

• Foster a positive, growth-oriented engineering culture that values learning, collaboration, and ownership.

• Mentor junior to senior engineers and guide team development through active feedback, technical pairing, and coaching.

• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and shared technical excellence across the engineering organization.

Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. A Masters degree is a plus.

• Experience: 8+ years of hands-on experience in end-to-end software engineering with at least 5 years in a technical leadership or team lead capacity.

• Proven experience designing and delivering distributed systems in fintech, e-commerce, or similarly high-scale domains.

• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external vendors.

• Technical Expertise: Architecture & Backend Systems: ▪ Proficient in designing microservices and event-driven systems. ▪ Deep knowledge of backend technologies (e.g., Java, Go, Node.js). o Infrastructure & Cloud: ▪ Experience deploying and scaling systems in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Alibaba Cloud). ▪ Familiarity with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) and IaC tools (e.g., Terraform). o Data Systems: ▪ Understanding of data pipelines, distributed storage, and batch/stream processing. o DevOps & Observability: ▪ Strong grasp of CI/CD, logging, alerting, and monitoring tools.

• Skills: Strong analytical, system design, and decision-making capabilities. o Effective communication and cross-team collaboration skills. o Experience leading design discussions and technical planning.

• Certifications (Optional): Certifications in cloud (AWS, Alibaba Cloud), system design, or agile practices are a plus.
