Role: Project Accountant

Location: Jakarta, Indonesia

Are you a detail-oriented finance professional looking to make an impact beyond borders? Were seeking a Project Accountant, based in Jakarta, to join our international development team supporting programs across the Pacific region and Timor-Leste.

Reporting to the Head of Project Accounting, this role plays a key part in ensuring strong financial oversight and compliance across donor-funded programs. Youll work closely with both corporate finance and program teams—bridging the gap between strategic project delivery and robust financial management.

 About the Position

Duties and essential requirements for the role will include:

  • Ensure compliance with contractual financial requirements and accounting standards across international development programs.
  • Provide end-to-end financial oversight, including budgeting, expenditure tracking, forecasting, and donor financial reporting.
  • Support month-end close processes, project ledger maintenance, and revenue recognition.
  • Coordinate with in-country teams to strengthen financial systems, conduct monitoring reviews, and support audits.
  • Deliver financial training, tools, and hands-on support to program finance staff in the Pacific and Timor-Leste.
  • Work closely with corporate finance, internal audit, and program leaders to strengthen financial governance and controls.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring financial accountability and service excellence.
  • Uphold DT Globals commitment to GEDSI, child protection, safeguarding, and ethical financial practices.
  • Occasional travel to the Pacific and Timor-Leste may be required.

About you

Essential qualifications:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years experience in a similar project accounting or financial management role.
  • Sound knowledge of financial compliance, donor reporting (ideally DFAT), and internal controls.
  • Experience in financial reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, and supporting audits.
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and cultures.
  • A team player with a proactive approach and strong attention to detail.

Selection Criteria

Essential Experience & Knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience managing project-based financial processes in a donor-funded environment.
  • Ability to act as a financial liaison between project and corporate teams, ensuring clear communication and timely reporting.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to challenge existing systems and propose improvements.
  • Proven ability to train and support finance teams in remote or multicultural settings.
  • Commitment to accountability, integrity, and upholding financial and ethical standards.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience in international development, NGOs, or similar project-based sectors.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
  • Adaptable, solutions-focused, and comfortable working in a hands-on environment.
  • Positive attitude, openness to feedback, and eagerness to learn.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding policies and DFAT compliance frameworks.
