R-PP Textile Innovation Engineer

Role Summary

Were looking for a textile engineer with strong material sensitivity and a passion for innovation, focused on developing recycled polypropylene (r-PP). Youll work across the full process—from yarn extrusion and functional additive formulation to post-processing and certification—to ensure stability and support recyclable product development.

In this role, youll collaborate closely with brand designers and manufacturers to shape a truly mono-material, circular material journey. If you care about both technical precision and sustainability, wed love to create this new way of making with you.

Talent Benefits

1200-1630 USD. (IDR 19.572.000-26.585.300) MONTHLY

(To be determined based on interview and portfolio)

• Salary include the covering of accommodation fee

• Positioned in Bali

• Be available to travel for work to Taiwan

Requirements

  • Educational background in textiles, materials science, chemical engineering, or related fields; familiarity with yarn extrusion, spinning, or functional yarn development

  • Priority given to candidates experienced with synthetic fiber characteristics and processing applications

  • Experience in color masterbatch development and functional formulations (e.g., UV resistance, flame retardancy, anti-static properties).

  • Proficient in yarn processing techniques such as ATY (Air Textured Yarn), DTY (Draw Textured Yarn), blending and core-spun yarns, with skills in hand feel adjustments.

  • Capable of independently handling yarn sampling, specification setup, and collaborating with factories on fancy or functional yarn development

  • Understanding of the compatibility between post-processing (e.g., coating, printing) and recycling workflows

  • Experience in textile-related certifications (e.g., OEKO-TEX®, GRS, Bluesign®) or government-funded sustainability projects is a plus

  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; passionate about sustainable materials and product innovation

Key Responsibilities

  1. Certification Applications & Product Circulation Testimony

  • Assist in applying for and managing international certifications for textiles and production processes, including: OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, GRS (Global Recycled Standard), Bluesign®, and Cradle to Cradle®.

  • Draft and coordinate government or international grant proposals related to sustainable materials or functional textiles.

  • Conduct testing on product recyclability and number of reuse cycles.

  • Participate in product marketing and sales strategy meetings; support trade show participation and business promotion activities.

  1. Functional & Masterbatch Development Circulation Testimony

  • Develop precise and high-saturation color masterbatches based on Pantone color codes for yarn extrusion applications.

  • Formulate and integrate functional masterbatches to enhance yarn and fabric performance, including: UV resistance, flame retardancy, anti-static properties, and dyeability improvement.

  • Evaluate the impact of various colorants and additives on yarn extrusion stability and final hand feel.

  1. Yarn Extrusion Technology (Monofilament / Multifilament / Staple Fiber)

  • Operate and optimize r-PP yarn extrusion processes to improve yarn strength, consistency, and yield.

  • Conduct quality adjustments and parameter optimization for different yarn types (monofilament, multifilament, and staple fiber).

  • Monitor extrusion parameters using automated systems (e.g., temperature, draw ratio, cooling system).

  • Apply extruded fibers to nonwoven materials as structural base layers for wallpaper backing.

  1. Yarn Spinning Development (Synthetic Fiber Specialty)

  • Proficient in blending techniques and tactile property control for r-PP and various synthetic short/long fibers.

  • Skilled in multiple yarn processing methods, including: ATY (Air Textured Yarn), DTY (Draw Textured Yarn), blending, and core-spun yarn.

  • Experienced in analyzing and adjusting yarn parameters such as yarn count, twist level, and composition ratio to support sample development.

  • Capable of collaborating with partner mills to develop specialty yarns such as fancy yarns, brushed yarns, mercerized yarns, and texture-enhanced yarns.

  • Understand the influence of yarn characteristics on downstream weaving and dyeing/finishing processes.

  1. Post-processing / Coating / Printing Engineering

  • Proficient in post-processing techniques using recycled polypropylene or water- soluble materials to avoid contamination of the recycling stream.

  • Processes include surface coating, functional finishing, and low-temperature printing.

  • Support sustainability and recyclability requirements by improving material properties, colorfastness, and peel strength.

Please ensure your application meets the following criteria before submission:

  1. Age Restriction: Applicants must be 24 years or older.

  2. Experience: Applicants should have 3 to 8 years of experience in the relevant role (Medium to Senior Level).

  3. Portfolio Requirement:

  • A portfolio link showcasing relevant work is mandatory for all creative roles (in Google Drive, or Wetransfer link, or personal website could be better).

  • Emphasis on skills and creativity rather than a specific degree. (A Bachelors degree is not a strict requirement, but a portfolio demonstrating your capabilities is).

  1. Curriculum Vitae: Submit your most recent CV (2025 version).

  2. Contract Structure: This position follows an annual contract structure, with yearly renewals discussed. No probation period will be applied.

  3. Start Date & Meetings: The target start date is September 1st. There may be an offline meet-up in Bali between August 10-23 (attendance is optional but encouraged).
