Waste Water Treatment Operator

We are looking for a reliable and environmentally conscious Wastewater Treatment Operator to support our carrageenan processing operations. In this role, you will ensure the effective operation of the wastewater treatment facility, maintaining compliance with local environmental regulations and promoting sustainable water management practices. As a Wastewater Treatment Operator, your main responsibility will be to operate, monitor, and maintain the wastewater treatment plant and equipment, ensuring efficient treatment of effluents generated from carrageenan production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor wastewater treatment units, including pumps, valves, tanks, clarifiers, and aerators.

• Conduct routine sampling and testing of wastewater for parameters such as pH, BOD, COD, TSS, and other local environmental indicators.

• Ensure treated effluent meets local (Indonesian) environmental standards and discharge requirements.

• Perform basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and cleaning of equipment and instruments.

• Record and report data on flow rates, chemical usage, test results, and system performance.

• Handle chemicals safely and ensure correct dosing for optimal treatment results.

• Coordinate with environmental and safety officers for inspections and compliance reporting.

• Support compliance with Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) regulations.

• Assist during audits and environmental inspections.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the wastewater treatment area.

Education:

• Diploma (D3) or Technical Certificate in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience operating or maintaining wastewater treatment systems, preferably in the food manufacturing or chemical industry.

Skills & Competencies:

• Knowledge of biological, chemical, and physical wastewater treatment processes.

• Familiar with Indonesian environmental laws and discharge regulations (BML/Peraturan Pemerintah No. 22 Tahun 2021).

• Ability to conduct water quality testing and interpret lab results.

• Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

• Attention to detail, strong work ethic, and safety-minded.

• Able to work independently or in a team, including on a shift schedule.

• Experience working in a carrageenan, hydrocolloid, or seaweed-based processing plant.

• Certification or training in water or wastewater treatment (e.g., Sertifikat Kompetensi Pengolahan Limbah).

• Basic computer skills for report generation and monitoring system input.
