Technology Deputy Group Head

About the role:

The Technology Deputy Group Head plays a pivotal and strategic role in ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and efficiency of all the companys steam power plants. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of plant operations, maintenance, and improvement projects across the three geographically dispersed plant locations. The role involves providing technical expertise, guidance, and support to plant management and engineering teams, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. Furthermore, this position is key in driving continuous improvement initiatives, managing technical risks, and supporting the companys strategic objectives for plant productivity and profitability. The Technology Deputy Group Head acts as a central point of technical authority and facilitates seamless collaboration and knowledge sharing across all plant sites.

Job Description:

1. To study, review and assess all new technical rectification and technical improvement projects for all IPPs with purpose to increase the plant efficiency, plant reliability and plant safety production.

2. To monitor and check the plant safety production implementation according to company safety policy and/or the related laws / regulations.

3. To support and advise in various plant improvement projects starting from budget preparation and budget review, technical specification and checklist, technical clarification with vendors, contract draft review and project implementation supervision and monitoring.

4. To support 3 IPP plants during Scheduled Outage and during emergency repair or forced outage repair especially related to : contractors outsourcing work management, time schedule monitoring, expediting the PR-PO process, checking the contractors work quality, etc.

5. To review plants Technical Feasibility Study, Memorandum of Approval and budget allocation and realization for the technical improvement projects.

6. To prepare and organize the technical competition, safety competition, 7S competition for all 3 IPPs and HO

7. To collect and support plant in submitting the technical papers to be published at the reputable journal / magazine.

8. To ensure that the companys property and plant insurance (Property All Risk, Machinery Breakdown and Business Interruption (PAR/MB/BI)) for all IPP are always in place and monitor the renewal progress.

9. To support IPP in submitting machinery / property / business interruption claims to the insurance company (if any) after major accident or major lost happened to the plant including to collect, review, compile and submit all data required by the insurance company.

10. To study, review and implement the policies issued by the parents group company and socialize to all IPP for further implementation and action.

11. To prepare the report for Economic Analysis meeting, Safety Committee meeting and others report requested by the parents company / group.

12. To monitor SAP cataloging job task (create new material numberring, review catalog / data sheet and specification, ensure no same spare parts with different material number, etc.).

13. To ensure that all plants key important project document and O&M document are properly stored, indexed and maintained in the ELO Document Management System.

14. To supervise and manage the IT & SAP team, ensure all companys Infrastructure & Network, System & Application, Security System & Operations work safely & properly.

Job Requirement:

Education and Professional Qualifications:

1. A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, I & C Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline is mandatory. A Masters degree in a relevant engineering field or Business Administration is highly preferred.

2. Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certification in a relevant engineering discipline is strongly preferred.

3. Relevant certifications in power plant operations, maintenance, or project management (e.g., PMP) would be advantageous.

Technical Expertise and Experience:

1. Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in the power generation industry, with a significant focus on steam power plants.

2. Demonstrable deep technical knowledge of steam power plant systems, equipment, and technologies, including but not limited to:

- Boilers (various types, combustion systems, heat transfer)

- Steam turbines and generators

- Balance of Plant (BOP) systems (pumps, valves, piping, cooling water systems, etc.)

- Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems

- Electrical systems (high voltage, distribution, protection)

- Water treatment processes

- Fuel handling and storage systems

- Emissions control technologies

3. Proven experience in managing and overseeing complex technical projects, including plant upgrades, retrofits, and performance improvement initiatives.

4. Strong understanding of power plant performance monitoring, diagnostics, and optimization techniques.

5. Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, IEEE, environmental regulations).

6. Experience with predictive and preventative maintenance strategies and their implementation.

7. Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and their application in power plants.

8. Understanding of plant safety regulations and best practices, with a strong commitment to safety.

9. Experience in conducting technical feasibility studies, budget preparation, and cost control for technical projects.

10. Familiarity with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, particularly in the context of maintenance and materials management.

11. Experience in reviewing and interpreting technical documentation, including O&M manuals, engineering drawings, and vendor specifications.

12. Exposure to root cause analysis (RCA) and failure analysis methodologies.

1. Proven leadership capabilities with experience in managing and mentoring technical teams across multiple locations.

2. Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

3. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues effectively.

4. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a matrix organizational structure.

6. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential due to the potential for international collaboration and documentation.

7. Willingness to travel frequently to the different plant locations across Indonesia
